National Day and 100,000 Foreigners

Jul 29 by Paranoid Singaporean

SINGAPORE: Labour chief Lim Swee Say has said that any additional intake of foreign manpower should not dilute Singapore’s efforts in productivity improvement. –Channel News Asia, 29 July 2010

Wait up, taking on 100,000 foreign workers as compared to raising the productive of your local and current workforce IS taking the easy way out—diluting productivity efforts in other words. Contradiction much? Lim Swee Say, you are a lot more entertaining when you were in that Zorro costume.

Somewhere along the line, somebody lied. Wasn’t it just the beginning of the year that we heard from Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam:

“We should moderate the growth of the foreign workforce and avoid a continuous increase in its proportion of the total workforce,” –Singapore to slow down hiring of foreign workers, (AFP) – Feb 22, 2010

The key phrase to look for would be “avoid continuous increase in its proportion of the total workforce”. 100,000 foreigners vs total live-births of 40,000. Do the math, and you would see my point. Of course, they could stick to their guns, convert all of them into PR and citizens in record time—proclaim proudly that they have succeeded in reducing their dependence on foreign labour. This scenerio gets even more ominous as election draws near. Guess who the new citizens are going to vote for?

Don’t give me the ‘Singaporeans were all immiggrants in the past’. Sure, Americans were all cowboys, all Australians were prisoners and all that bullshit—everyone’s ancestors were immigrants at one point in the past.

How do you expect Singaporeans to develop patriotism, a sense of belonging and more importantly—a true Singaporean Culture; when all the government does is fuck us over with foreigners. I keep hearing the incumbent party telling us to work harder when all they do is take the easy way out. Our MM Lee is drawing S$3 million per annum when all he does is forecasting? I bet I could hire ‘Paul the Octopus’ for a lot less and when he’s of no more use? Make him into sushi and ingest.

As National Day draws near, let us Singaporeans think and take charge of our destiny. Where do you want to be in the future? Living on the margins of our own society and country? Or are we going to tell those 84 bitches that enough is enough on the coming polling day? Show your patriotism in the coming GE and not the National day. The day where foreigners outnumber Singaporeans is when we let our fore-fathers down. They built this country with blood and sweat so that we can carry on the good fight to bring Singapore into the 21st century and beyond.

Our current stable of leaders are out of touch and too self-serving.

Let us tell them: I have had enough and fuck you very much.

  1. Paying ministers and parliamentarians sky high remunerations for them to bully the local borns, act as clown to make the people laugh and to offer logic and reasonability defying excuses, only Singaporeans can live with such silly situation.

  2. General Election. This time round it will be different. Something’s gonna change in Singapore this time round.

  3. I certainly hope that we can deny them the 2/3 majority in the coming GE. Unfortunately, I don’t think the oppositions have a chance at all.

Saddest thing: Singaporeans in the past that I spoke to always think that the incumbent party would listen and change. In the next GE, I’m afraid it might all be too late to tell them through voting—with record number of new citizens, Singaporeans are pretty much food for fish already—though I hope I will be proven wrong.
